“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.”
– Genesis 1:1-2
Live the Faith! Tip of the Week:
How do you think God created the universe?
Unlike some Christian denominations, Catholics do not have a defined dogma on specifically how God created the universe. As long as a Catholic holds true that God did divinely create the universe, he or she is free to believe in creationism, divinely-initiated evolution, or many other theories of creation that may fall somewhere in between the two.
Take a listen to a theory posed by renowned physicist, Dr. Gerald Schroeder on how the seven days of creation might have happened over billions of years.
