Call to mind the Fourth of the Seven Steps. Ask God to help you rid your heart of concerns over earthly things, and instead to help you Set Your Mind on the Things Above. Pray that He might bestow upon you the true happiness that can only be found through the Joy of the Lord.

Take some time in your daily prayer this week to thank Mary for her fiat; for saying “Yes” to God and delivering Jesus, our savior, into this world. Think about what God is asking of you and ask His mother to intercede on your behalf for the grace to say “Yes” to God, just as she did.

Live the Faith! Tip of the Week:
It is a constant temptation for us to seek happiness in worldly and material things. These pleasures bring us temporary satisfaction, but never a true, lasting happiness. Let us go through the process of Metanoia, to rethink our lives and realize where we find true happiness: in the love of our families and friends, and ultimately in the Lord our God.

All of us us sin and make mistakes, but God always shows us mercy and makes us new as long as we are truly penitent. Take some time in prayer to submit your own will to the will of God; ask Him to mold you into the man you were meant to be.

How does your competitiveness get in the way of your duty as a husband, as a father, as a Catholic? How can you work to channel that competitiveness in a way that serves your family, the Lord, and His Church?

Do you notice any similarities between Matt’s story and your own life? Do you make your family a priority when you get home from work? Take a moment in prayer to think about Matt’s story and how you can apply what he learned to your own life, and how you can grow in Christ together with your family.

When you come home at the end of each day, are you truly being present to your family? Simply giving to your family members the time, attention, and love they deserve will change your life and theirs. Do your best to put away the laptop and cell phone once you get home and truly be present to your family.

my spirit rejoices in God my savior.
For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness;
behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed.
The Mighty One has done great things for me,

The type of media we consume matters. Not only do illicit images and media corrupt our souls, they also have a profoundly damaging and addictive effect on our mind and body. Let us remember the 1st and 7th of the 7 Steps by honoring our wedding vows and seeking to avoid putting ourselves in potentially sinful and harmful situations.
